Case Study-iPhones in the Classroom
Ethical Implications Part 1
According to my case study from my research some ethical implications that may affect teachers, students, and the educational process when an iPhone is implemented into the classroom are the fact that iPhones have been labeled as a distraction from the learning process. They can be used to cheat, cyberbully others, and used to send and receive inappropriate messages. Teachers have the responsibility to monitor students use of the internet and make sure they are safe at all times. Many teachers are digital immigrants and are not familiar with technology therefor are afraid to use it in their classrooms. Cost is always a factor for school districts so the fact that a large percentage of students own them cuts down on the cost for districts. Students are often not on task as the iPhone becomes a distraction. Students need to be taught about the importance of digital citizenship prior to allowing technology into the classroom.
Implications on Classroom Environment Part 2
According to my research for my case study on "iPhones in the classrooms" I have found some important information on the way students are being educated and how it continues to change. iPhones are becoming allowed and welcomed into the classrooms. They have many uses in today's classroom. They are being used to educate and motivate students. Students are actively engaged and more attentive when they are using technology. iPhones can be a powerful tool if used properly, they provide students with so much useful information that teachers can't deny. They are being used as clickers, calculators, research tools and so much more.
Teachers are using apps to organize and manage classrooms. Apps like Remind and Class Dojo help teachers and students communicate using iPhone apps. Some teachers use the iPhones for small group projects with research races to see who can find the correct information first. iPhones can be used to flip classrooms and create another way for teacher and students to use technology as a great resource. The use of QR codes is another creative way to keep students and parents connected to the class and the learning that continually takes place even while they are absent. All of the great things that iPhones have to offer are increasing student engagement and making students lifelong learners.

Evolution of Technology Part 3
This is the final part of my case study "iPhones in the classroom-the evolution of technology" In 2007 the iPhone was released, this changed the way people accessed the internet. Originally iPhones were bought for children so that their parents could get a hold of them in case of an emergency. Schools nationwide banned them from schools because they were seen as a distraction for parents and students. Shortly after the smartphone ban was lifted with limited restrictions. Some teachers around the country started using iPhones for learning purposes by incorporating them into their lesson plans. This was the key to engaging students with something they already love and know how to use. Now students around the nation are encouraged to bring and use their cell phones daily.
Teachers are creating lessons that have students use the internet to do research and collaborate with other students of their findings. There are over 1000 apps available to students and teachers to use with more being developed in the future. iPhones have been used in science classes as a viewer for microscopes. Soon desks will be made with touch screens for students to use and do their work right on the desks. iPhones are becoming a norm for classrooms and in the future will just be getting better with IOS educational updates.
